The Process – How it Works?

Precision water-jet machining

The AQUAJET process uses Ultra High Pressure water (4500 Bar or 65,000 p.s.i.) pumped through a diamond jewel with a 0.2mm dia hole. This accelerates the water to MACH 2.5 (2.5 times the speed of sound). Abrasive garnet sand is then introduced into the stream of water and accelerated to MACH 2.5 with a diameter (kerf) of 0.7mm.

The abrasive jet is directed with a Numeric Control system to an accuracy of 0.15mm maximum over 2.0 meters. The jet travel speed can be varied to regulate the quality (surface finish) of the cut. Material sizes of up to 4m x 2m and up to 300mm thick in Mild Steel and 200mm Stainless Steel can be loaded. There is no heat input, no distortion and no hard edge crust. Cutting to profile, hole piercing, shaping and milling can therefore be done in ONE process with high accuracy.

Tilt-a-Jet Process™

This 5 axis equipment will incorporate the latest technology in software, accuracy and reliability. AquaJet Profiles are now able to cut thick materials to machining tolerances of 0.07mm with their Tilt-a-Jet Process. Angles from 0° to 9° can be achieved or completely eliminated.

Flexi – H2 Process

Fully adjustable head allows AquaJet to cut angles/ bevels in a straight line. Ideal for chamfering or weld preps up to 45° over a length of 4 meters.
A full-time design service is available and DXF (CAD) drawings which can be loaded directly into the machine by disc or email.
